Salah Now

Overview

Salah Now is built to keep your information with you. There is no account to create and no cloud to sync to. The developer operates no servers and does not receive, collect, or have access to your prayer data. This policy explains in plain terms what the app stores, where it stays, and the few moments the app uses the internet.

Our principles

• No account. There is no sign-up, sign-in, or login of any kind.
• No cloud. Your data is not stored on any server. The developer operates no servers.
• No tracking. There is no analytics, advertising, behaviour profiling, or third-party tracking SDK.
• No selling of data. Your information is never sold, shared for advertising, or monetised.

What is stored, and where

All of the following stays locally on your device:

• Prayer times and prayer history / completion records
• Streaks and statistics (calculated on-device)
• Settings and preferences (calculation method, madhhab, theme, etc.)
• Exempt periods and voluntary-prayer records
• Local backup files you create, or that the app saves to a folder you choose

The developer does not receive, collect, or have access to any of this.

Location

• With your permission, the app uses your device location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction, on-device.
• Coordinates are sent to two services only, to provide functionality you requested:
  • Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) — local weather.
  • OpenStreetMap / Nominatim (openstreetmap.org) — to convert coordinates into a readable place name (for example, "Jeddah").
• These requests contain your device's coordinates, are used only to return weather or a place name, and are not stored by the developer. Each service has its own privacy practices.
• Prayer-time and Qibla calculations are performed entirely on your device and do not require the internet.
• If location is denied or disabled, prayer-time accuracy and Qibla are limited, but the rest of the app keeps working.

Internet use

The app uses the internet only for: location-based weather, converting coordinates to a place name, and a one-time location acquisition.

The internet is not required for prayer history, settings, backups, restoring data, or notifications. The app is designed to keep working offline.

Notifications

Local prayer and reflection notifications are generated on-device. No notification content comes from a server.

Backups

Backups are local files. You pick a folder, and the app writes a complete snapshot there (you can also export and import manually). Backup files are plain text and contain your prayer history, settings, and the coordinates used for prayer times. Anyone with access to that folder can read them. The developer never receives your backups.

Accuracy of prayer times & Qibla

Prayer times and the Qibla direction are calculated on your device from your location using established astronomical and geomagnetic methods. They are offered as a careful aid to worship, not as a replacement for local religious authority. Times can differ with calculation method, madhhab, and local convention, and a phone's compass can be affected by nearby metal or magnetic interference. Please verify against a trusted local source where certainty matters.

Children

The app collects no personal information and contains no ads or tracking.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version is posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
